«Renewable energies in the Americas: integration and innovation»
Every two years, the Energy and Climate Alliance of the Americas (ECPA) holds its ministerial meeting in one of the member countries. This official meeting brings together the highest energy authorities of the Member States to deliberate on the challenges and opportunities presented by the region and coordinate strategies that contribute to achieving sustainable energy development, with a view to a future without carbon emissions. Representatives of the private sector, energy and sustainable development experts, and other key actors also attend.
The sixth ECPA Ministerial Meeting will focus on the topic "Renewable energies in the Americas: integration and innovation", directly linked to the thematic and transversal axes of ECPA. The objective is to promote sustainable growth and regional collaboration in the field of clean and efficient energies.
The meeting will take place on March 14 and 15, 2024, at the Barceló Bávaro Convention Center, in the city of Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
GOALS:
- Strengthen regional commitment to accelerate the transition to clean energy, in line with the commitments established at the IX Summit of the Americas, held in 2022, in Los Angeles, United States. (https://t.ly/gaViX)
- Promote dialogue between the public and private sectors to identify opportunities and challenges in the energy transition and sustainable development.
- Promote private investment in the energy sector, especially in resilient infrastructure and clean energy.
- Strengthen regional cooperation networks and mechanisms to support energy transition efforts.
- Share best practices, experiences and knowledge in key areas such as the decarbonization of transport and industry, energy storage systems and energy resilience.
The sixth Meeting of ECPA Energy Ministers will be a unique opportunity to analyze the challenges and opportunities of the energy sector in the Americas. During the first day of the event, participants will be able to participate in thematic sessions on key aspects such as attracting private investment, clean hydrogen certification and energy resilience in the Caribbean. Spaces will also be offered to make contacts, establish alliances and exchange good practices between countries.
On the second day of the event, plenary sessions and spaces for dialogue between ministers and businessmen will be held. The topics addressed will include mechanisms to encourage private investment, the role of companies in the energy transition and the electricity sector's commitment to decarbonization.
The event will conclude with a closing session in which political commitments and the adoption of key protocols are expected to promote the energy transition in the region.
